Warriors earn runner-up finish at state golf tournament

The Socorro Warriors golf team surged into a runner-up finish on Day 2 of the Class1-3A State Golf Tournament. Sophomore Isaiah Silva gave Socorro its highest finish with his two-day score of 142, earning him runner-up honors among individual golfers.
Coach Miguel Griego’s Warriors shot a two-day score of 655, 21 strokes behind Mesilla Valley’s 634.
Andrew Handrich’s 162 total put him into the top ten with an 8th-place finish. Ian Gonzales was 19th with a 172, Nazario Silva’s 176 put him in 23rd, and Tavin Benavidez was 26th with a 179.
