Socorro Cross Country Teams Show Strength at Belen Meet

Socorro High School’s cross country teams delivered a strong performance at Belen’s Adron Gardner Cross Country Classic with the girls’ varsity team securing a second-place finish and the boys’ varsity team taking fourth. The middle school and junior varsity squads also demonstrated notable efforts.


Girls’ Varsity Squad Shines

The girls’ varsity team was led by a trio of impressive runners, with Abby Cadol finishing in 7th place with a time of 22:38.37, followed closely by Anastasia Zagrai at 9th place with a time of 22:53.66. Makenzie Smith rounded out the top 11, crossing the line in 23:29.69. The team’s collective efforts earned them a solid second-place team finish.


Boys’ Varsity Team Finishes Strong

On the boys’ side, Kyle Berger paced the varsity team with a strong 5th place finish, clocking in at 17:03.65. Rylan Timmons and Timur Aitbayev also contributed to the team’s 4th place finish, with times of 19:19.75 and 20:45.87, respectively. The consistent performance of the top runners positions the team well for future competitions.


JV and Middle School Teams Show Promise

The future of Socorro cross country looks bright, with standout performances from the junior varsity and middle school runners. In the JV girls’ race, Breanne Lucero claimed the top spot with a time of 25:10.15, followed by Stella Candeleria in 12th and Jordan Harris in 16th.

The middle school teams also saw great results. Tracer Montoya led the middle school boys with an impressive 3rd place finish, while Miles Padilla and Santiago Olivares secured 9th and 10th places, respectively. The middle school girls were represented by Lavelle Jacobs and Maddison Dotson, who finished 14th and 17th.
