STATE CHAMPIONS! The Socorro County 4H archery tea STATE CHAMPIONS! The Socorro County 4H archery team is headed to nationals after winning the state compound archery championship in Raton over the weekend. The event was highlighted by Juan Fernandez’s individual state title, and third place by Matthew Lopez in compound archery. Lincoln Wilkinson was 4th in recurve archery. 
The team’s success can be your ticket to a guided hunt barbary sheep hunt!

Socorro’s recurve bow team took 2nd place.
First-place team members include Mathew Lopez, Jacob Angel, Esperanza Lopez and Juan Fernandez.

What began as a six-year-old's passion for cupcake What began as a six-year-old's passion for cupcakes is now a passion for raising awareness about cystic fibrosis for Socorro's Connor Johnston. On Saturday, 185 people gathered to help raise that awareness and money, too.

GOLF CHAMPION! Isaiah Silva fired a 76 and nailed GOLF CHAMPION! STATE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT! No. 1 Magdalena will be STATE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT! No. 1 Magdalena will be getting a bye in the first round of the Nusenda State Baseball Tournament. The 18-3 Steers get a first round bye, and  will play on May 15 against either No. 4 Melrose or No. 5 Grady. No. 2 Gateway Christian (14-4) also got a bye and will face the winner of the No. 4 Logan No. 6 Elida game. @positive.outcomes

A RECORD BREAKER! The 2025 edition of the Connor's A RECORD BREAKER! The 2025 edition of the Connor's Causes 5K/1-Mile Walk set a new record for the event with 183 preregistrations, topping last year's 175 grand total. That total of 183 participants is expected to rise, which far exceeds a similar event in Albuquerque, which drew 105 people. Connor's Causes came about through the dreams of a 6-year-old, and now, eight years later, Connor Johnston runs for more than cupcakes. It's an inspiring story about the battle against cystic fibrosis, so stay tuned.

Socorro dominated yesterday's district track meet with the Warriors scoring 183 points to 2nd place Hatch Valley's 137; however, that margin of victory paled when compared to the Lady Warriors.
