Esther Dunn

Oct. 8, 1943 – April 11, 2025

Esther Dunn died on April 11, 2025, at her home in Socorro, NM, in the company of family and friends. She was born on October 8, 1943, in Juarez, Mexico and lived in a number of places in Mexico where her father had businesses.

She came to El Paso to complete her schooling. She met her future husband, Frederick C. Dunn in El Paso. They carried on a long-distance engagement while he was in the Air Force. They married on February 8, 1964. They moved back to the Southwest after Fred was discharged from the Air Force. Esther took reins of a household that was to include their two children, Joanna C. Dunn & Mary Ann Wolf. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt and daughter. In a word, she was a fabulous human and will be missed tremendously by all that knew her virtues.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Salvador & Carolina Gallardo, her siblings, Salvador Gallardo Jr., Isela Mata and Alicia Gallardo, all of El Paso TX, and granddaughter, Ashley Gleason of Albuquerque NM and nephew, Sergio Mata of El Paso, TX.

She is survived by her husband, Fred, daughters Joanna Dunn and Mary Ann Wolf, grandson, Rayne Dodson, granddaughters, Megan & Emily Wolf, great-grandchildren, Pierce Sedillo & Poppy Rose, and many nieces and nephews.

She would have wanted to thank Dr, Bhasker, all the Doctors and staff of the UNM Cancer Center, UNM Hospital and especially the doctors and staff of Socorro General Hospital and the Presbyterian Hospice group, all the very special neighbors and friends that eased her suffering.

Services for Rosa will take place at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro, NM, on Thursday, May 15, 2025. A rosary will take place at 10:00 am, followed by a mass at 10:30 am. A reception with light refreshments will be held at 11:30 am, at the Parish Hall.

Rosa will then be placed to rest following the reception at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM.
